Advantage Crops Limited (ACL) is a Kenyan seed company that is involved in crop variety development and marketing of certified seed of selected crop varieties (forage grasses, legumes and vegetables) in eastern, central and southern Africa regions. We are looking for a skilled Accountant to perform variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks.

Job Summary

The accountant shall perform financial functions of the company in relation to accurate recording, analysis and presentation of reports on the company’s expenditures, revenues and other financial operations to the management. The accountant’s administrative roles within a company’s operations shall include but not limited to financial data collection, entry and report generation. He/She shall perform an advisory role as a financial interpreter, and might be called upon to present the company’s financial data to interested parties within and outside of the business. He/She shall be expected to effectively and efficiently deal with third parties, such as vendors, customers and financial institutions

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Reconcile invoices and identify discrepancies
Create and update expense reports
Process payments and requisitions. Ensure that no payment is made without proper authority being obtained and where applicable, quoted on the payment voucher
Prepare bank deposits/reconciliation
Enter financial transactions into internal databases
Check spreadsheets for accuracy
Maintain digital and physical financial records
Issue invoices to customers and external partners, as needed
Review and file payroll documents
Promptly bring to account, under the proper headings of the Budget and accounts, all monies collected;
To charge promptly in his/her accounts under the proper heading and sub-heading all disbursements of ACL money in accordance with the current budget
Ensure proper provision is made for the safe-keeping of ACL money, stamps, official receipts, requisitions, cheque books, Local Purchase Order Books, and all other accountable documents, and assets under his/her charge;
Supervise all officers under his/her authority entrusted with the receipt and expenditure of ACL money. Take precautions through maintenance of efficient and regular checks against the occurrence of misappropriation or negligence
Ensure that all books of account, registers, records etc, are maintained in accordance with Accounting Instructions and Financial Regulations and are posted and kept up-to-date and when not in use, are kept in safe custody
Prepare and submit any financial statements required by ACL management
Reply promptly and fully to all financial and other queries raised by management, giving the particulars or information required
Provide support with the preparation of capital and operating budgets;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Minimum Qualification: Higher National Diploma in accounting or a financial discipline from a reputable Institution. A Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field will be an advantage
Experience: At leasts two years hands on experience in a commercial business environment
Knowledge working with ERP System
Knowledge of mid level bookkeeping procedures
Familiarity with finance regulations
Good math skills and the ability to spot numerical errors
Proficiency with computers, especially MS Office. Hands-on experience with MS Excel and accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks)
Planning and organizational skills
Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
Multitasking skills
Analytical and problem-solving skills
The capacity to work without supervision and under pressure
The ability to work well in teams and independently
Attention to details and ability to follow procedures is essential
Highly developed sense of discretion and confidentiality

We are looking for a skilled Technical Marketing Agronomist to perform a variety of seed marketing and sales functions in order to increase revenue growth for the company.

Job Summary

The Technical Marketing Agronomist will develop sales leads in a given region in order to increase sales revenue on behalf of the company. Shall be ACL’s frontline sales representative with regional monthly sales volume target; build technical capacity of the distributors as well as the farmers by carrying out on farm training sessions. He/She shall work closely with the teams in Research and Product Development and Marketing and Operations to ensure quality delivery of service to the customers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Resell and sell company products and services to potential clients
Establish new customer base and maintain existing clientele
Keeping detailed records regarding fields, customers, crops, and samples.
Increase demand for products by training/increasing capacity of clients on: planting; protection against pests and diseases; crop management and utilization
Generating reports and presenting findings to management, clients, or other interested
Make educational presentations to promote products and suitable production and utilization techniques among farmer clients.
Promoting good agricultural practices among farmers that enable them to maximize productivity and quality
Respond to and follow up sales inquiries using appropriate methods.
Gather feedback from clients on product performance and relay to product development team for further product improvement
Develop and maintain current product knowledge.
Identify and resolve client concerns.
Organize and participate in marketing events.
Support in the preparation of proposals to customers, maintain the proposal register and make follow ups as needed
Sell personalized consultation services to clients.
Mobilize and recruit farmers as and when required
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Minimum Qualification: Bachelors degree in in Agronomy, Agriculture, or related field from reputable Institution. Diploma or cerificate of agriculture holders with suitable experience profile will also be considered. Certificate in marketing shall be advantageous.
Experience: Three years working as technical sales agronomist in agribusiness value chain environment.
Passion for marketing and interaction with different people from all walks of life. Sales and presentation skills are also a major plus.
Knowledgeable in agricultural products value chains
Awareness of industry trends, technology, and developments
Strong communication and negotiating skills. Able to communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical audiences
Self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision.
Attentive to detail, ability to follow procedures
Work collaboratively with team members.
Proficiency with computers, especially MS Office
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within Kenya.
Ability to work outside, stand, walk, kneel, and stoop for extended periods.
Analytical with excellent listening, and problem-solving skills.
